Hello!

This is the topic to complain, talk and think about the new website.

Some things to discuss:

  • I wrote the thing in Ruby on Rails, so adding extra features is almost peanuts
  • I only moved/copied the artwork forums. Two reasons:
    1. They do a good marketing job
    2. Copying the forums has to be done almost manually, because technical reasons. (Drupal, couch, Drupal)
  • I left the design very plain. That's intentional and one of the reasons I opened this topic
  • I'm planning to make your personal gallery public, as a per user gallery. Some people (including me and povmaniac) will be able to select the coolest pictures to promote them on a separate "featured" page. Sounds cool? Opinion wanted.
  • If you want a new feature, feel free to ask! I'm probably releasing the website code as AGPLv3 if someone's interested in contributing some Rails skills.

Hi!

I forgot some meta tags to make the site responsive on smartphones. Now it's enabled, and I'm typing from my phone. Let me know if something is not right :)

Long overdue update. The website has been down for a while. This was since Red Hat plugged OpenShift Online v2, where we hosted this site before now. I made a backup of the database the day before OpenShift Online v2 went away, and then I had a very busy time.

The backup of the database is put back now, on Heroku. Currently on the free plan, we should be able to keep this working for quite a while now :-)

The only thing I wonder about is whether I have a backup of all the uploaded assets; the TheBounty builds, and most importantly, the gallery. I'll be looking for those files the coming hours.

Second update: I moved the forum from Forem to Thredded as for backend. Forem was unmaintained, and Thredded seems to allow for quite some nice new features.

First thing you can do is mention others using a simple @. Right, @povmaniac? ;-)

Hey.. Great jobs!!

You see the three dots on the right? Its style is still a bit bugged, but you can use it for quoting, and editing :-)

How work the new option 'mention'? like that.. @rubdos?

Exactly; just have to fix the notification settings one day…
